Children’s theater play: Croatian Fairies and Witches
Get lost in the magic of Croatian folktales by watching a children's theater play titled Hrvatske vile i vještice (Croatian Fairies and Witches). The award-winning, highly-entertaining performance invites children to learn more about the fairies and witches in Croatian legends through play and laughter. The play explores their characteristics, powers, and roles in folktales, highlighting the fact that these beings could be both allies and adversaries. It’s a family-friendly adventure put on by Kazalište Prijatelj, a Croatian theatrical company, to breathe life into the wealth of the Croatian oral tradition. Also, it’s perfect for kids but just as interesting to adults. The idea for the dramatization came from the folktales collected by Jozo Vrkić, Vid Balog, Darinka Hanžek, Josip Kekez, Joža Skok, and Stjepko Težak, among others. Dramatized and directed by: Hrvoje Zalar Stage choreography: Maja Đurinović Cast: Anja Đurinović, Vini Jurčić, and Hrvoje Zalar Sound design: Dražen Slopšek
