Baška celebrated the recent return of its Black Sheep with the loudest baa ever. The event boasted more than 10,000 visitors, both local and international, an excellent exhibition by Tisja Kljaković Braić, gigs by Psihomodo Pop, TBF, Porto Morto and Jonathan, various workshops for beaming children, reading and book events, a shepherds’ expedition, and lessons about the preservation of our heritage, most notably, the rare mrgari... As they say, there was something for everyone, and everyone there had something in common – bright, warm smiles and positive vibes spreading across Baška, from Friday until Sunday.
Besides featuring an exciting program of events and activities, the festival inspired the town’s restaurant owners to pull out all the stops so they could once again be able to say that Baška lamb truly was the best in the world. They served roasted lamb, lamb peka, breaded lamb, lamb burgers, lamb ćevapi, and even lamb žgvacet or stew with the famous šurlice pasta... Last weekend, the entire Baška smelled of lamb and great energy.
Even first-time visitors to the festival and Baška, such as the well-known artist Tisja Kljaković Braić, fit in quite quickly, identifying with all the black sheep there. Tisja said she even saw herself as a black sheep, because both she and her art stood out, just like everyone else participating in the festival’s various events and activities. Once again, Korado Korlević was a huge success, with more than 250 people wanting to learn something new from our famous scientist, even though he is a regular at the festival.
At the same time, the streets of Baška were buzzing with praise and compliments for the music lineup. The bends arrived in Baška in a great mood and ended up destroying their vocal cords on Baška’s waterfront, with even curious tourists dancing to their beats – although they didn’t understand a word of what was being sung, they still enjoyed the great music.
Finally, this year’s Black Sheep enjoyed great weather and, at the end of the weekend-long event, everyone left Baška in a great mood and fully energized for the challenges ahead. Until next year and another Black Sheeep!
